The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead:BOOK REVIEW

This fictional novel which expresses those thought that one could have gone through during those time as a African American slave. Although some of the scenes or writings where to a degree so expressive such as the fact that, African Americans were lynched and enslaved to a degree that one no longer knew where in Africa they where from, changed every little detail of their past lives and separated them. Erasing everything known to them and about them, where they came from. The writer was conscious of what he wanted the reader to follow and understand. In terms of how one would have felt had they been enslaved and denied basic human rights. Some of the words and action were told by those who saw to end slavery of black people and it showed us what life they lived, treatment received and result of such treatmentThe novel is based on the young African Americans girl 'Cora' who was born enslaved but was showed the ways of a free person even in her colour. The road to freedom is filled with challenges but also hands waiting to help. She met people and was showed that it's possible if you put your mind into it, however, sadly those who helped will not see her freed as they hoped so. What's beautiful about this novel is that even if you've lost almost all your life and the feeling that what is there to live for, there will always be people who will make sure that you are helped and reach your destination those who seek it shall find it. I would have loved to atleast know how she lived till her last days after running aways, did she ever find family or build one.
